28 Things That Took Me 28 Years to Learn

  1. Don't drink soda. The carbonated poison isn't worth it, and set a daily water goal while you're at it.
  2. Detachment brings inner peace. Live free from the power of "stuff."
  3. Take care of your skin. You need to splurge on vitamin C, retinol, and SPF.
  4. Have a supplement regimen. It's pretty easy to take vitamins as an investment in your wellness.
  5. Home is transitory. I've felt it in so many places across the country and around the world.
  6. Stay in the Word. Time in the Bible is never wasted.
  7. Book the flight. You need to change your location and perspective often.
  8. Laugh a lot. Does this need explaining?
  9. Go green. Seriously, it shouldn't have taken me so long to cultivate a love for my planet...it's crucial.
  10. Go outside. Fresh air works wonders for your brain, lungs, and entire body.
  11. Eat your veggies. Real, whole food over processed wins every time.
  12. Get off the couch. Laziness does not a fulfilled life make.
  13. Forage your food. There's something so satisfying about being primal.
  14. Less is more. Where has minimalism been all my life?
  15. Sugar and dairy are not your friends. There's too many other options out there nowadays.
  16. Make room at your table. The Gospel should be lived out more in your home than in the church.
  17. Make the time. Going out of your way for others helps them...and changes you.
  18. Save your money. Flippant spending and instant gratification does you no favors.
  19. Get out of your comfort zone. A stagnant life is crippling.
  20. Heal yourself. Do the work, and whatever it takes, to feel and be better.
  21. Stop the binges. Watching unlimited Netflix episodes is counterproductive.
  22. Guard your ears. Garbage in, garbage out.
  23. Get to the root. Figure out and fix your ailments instead of masking symptoms with medications.
  24. Curate the life you love. Make a new way, and be at peace with yourself.
  25. Get 8+ hours of sleep. Invest in lavender, cedarwood, melatonin, Calm app, blue light blockers, sound machine, etc...all the things for all the sleep.
  26. Hold yourself accountable. Quit making excuses, figure it out, get it done.
  27. Joy doesn't come by accident. It's a daily pursuit, and sometimes, a fight.
  28. Be a lifelong learner. When you quit learning, you quit growing.

Life can be so hard. But it's also really beautiful. I am full of gratitude for the one I am living, and I don't take the gift of it for granted.

Here's to the next 365 days and making the most of them. More expanding, more enlightening, more evolving.

What are you learning?
